Description
The Environmental Education Center (CEA) of the Municipality of Imperia, in collaboration with the Regional Environmental Education System of the Liguria Region and the Delfini del Ponente APS association, is promoting a special day for Saturday, June 6, 2026: a "Biowalk from the banks of the Prino stream to the blue sea."
The event, completely free and open to the public, is part of the initiatives aimed at achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the National Strategy for Sustainable Development (SNSvS), actively supported by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security and the City of Imperia.
The initiative involves a walking route of approximately 3.5 kilometers along the coast. Meeting point is the Prino parking lot on Via Lamboglia in Imperia around 9:30 a.m. and arrival in San Lorenzo al Mare. The route includes themed stops led by professional biologists and expert naturalists, focusing on the study and observation of the river mouths and the sea. The primary goal is to allow participants to observe up close true biodiversity hotspots, the characteristic landscapes of Western Liguria, and the extraordinarily delicate balance that governs coastal ecosystems.
"This bio-walk represents a fundamental step in the environmental awareness policies that the Scajola administration is resolutely pursuing. Western Liguria is home to an extraordinary yet extremely fragile biodiversity. Being able to explore it, accompanied by the scientific expertise of the biologists of 'Delfini del Ponente', offers residents and tourists a unique opportunity to consciously connect with nature," stated Laura Gandolfo, Councilor for the Environmental Education Center.
